IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System which was stablished in 1989 in order to assess the proficiency of English language of non-native Anglophones embracing major dialects of the language. The test is jointly managed by British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, and Cambridge Assessment English. This is one of the prestigious and major English assessment tests worldwide.

The test has two modules: Academic (AC) IELTS and General Training (GT) IELTS. Speaking and Listening are same for both modules, but Reading and Writing sections slightly differ in terms of question types and complexity.

The validity of the test lasts for two years, that is to say, one has to re-sit for the test to validate the certificate after the result’s validity expires. To book the test date, test takers should have valid passport (or citizenship for some countries).
